Concept - Knight Creature

Here I am quickly designing a knight creature, the theme of the outfit is Japanese. So I took a knight armor concept and introduced samurai-es elements to achieve a unique look

I started mapping out the characters adding light and shadow where it was needed

Here I am slowly adding detail to the image

By using the golden rectangle it easily helped me set characters in the right composition on the page

. The golden Rectangle is a useful tool and many artists use it in their creation of artwork. The line creating a rectangle on the left if where you would want to place your main character

Here I have slowly added a background to the image now obscuring it with mist 

This is the final design,  I have used a blur tool to make the background out of focus to bring the characters in front to full view

Skin tone

Here I am practicing coloring a face

It is important to establish where your light source is coming from as that will allow you to place the shadows on the correct area's

When painting skin you need to know whether you want more red, yellow or blue in the colour. As they are the main three colours that give us that flesh look 

Here I have slowly worked up overlaying colour to give me my desired outcome. 

Here is a general colour set in which you can use to create a skin colour

While searching for references I found this. When I said build up the colour this example shows one of the ways you can do this as it slowly gets more detailed from the line work to the final image

In relation to building on top of colour, you can use the same process for everything. Here is a more in depth tutorial I found in creating an realistic eye 

More Space ships

Now I am adding an alien landscape to go behind my spaceship 

These images show my initial concept. They are in black and white because values are important in an image, as this will allow you to place the right shades of color down

I decided to change the background and clean up the colors

This is the final design I tried to make the work look like a painting

Space Ships

Today I am looking into drawing spaceships

I started by looking a reference's of boats to get the type of design I wanted

The key to spaceships is the same as armor. Everything has it's own piece. When designing you would want to keep geometric shapes in mind

This is the final design I lightly colored the ship up as it is meant to be a quick concept sketch
